Butterfly Valves Performance Optimization using Autonomous Valve CFD
Watch this webinar to discover how Autonomous Valve CFD enables fast, accurate performance evaluation and optimization of concentric, double offset, and triple offset butterfly valves using fully autonomous simulations—delivering standards-aligned results without the need for advanced CFD expertise.
Butterfly valves play a critical role across industries such as water and wastewater, power generation, oil and gas, HVAC, and general process plants. However, achieving optimal performance requires careful analysis of flow behavior, pressure loss, and torque under varying operating conditions. Parameters such as flow coefficient (Cv), dynamic torque coefficient (Cdt), pressure recovery, and cavitation behavior are highly sensitive to disc geometry, offset configuration, and opening angle. This upcoming technical webinar focuses on all types of butterfly valves, including resilient seated, high-performance (double offset), and triple-offset designs, and explains how modern performance prediction is evolving with Autonomous Valve CFD (AVC).
Traditional physical flow loop testing has been the industry benchmark for determining Cv and Cdt. While reliable, it is expensive, time-consuming, and difficult to scale, especially for large-diameter butterfly valves. Limited test iterations and lack of internal flow visibility make design optimization slow and costly. Conventional CFD offers deeper insight into flow behavior, pressure recovery, and cavitation, but its adoption is restricted by the need for CFD expertise, complex preprocessing, solver setup, and high-performance computing resources. As a result, CFD often remains outside the daily design workflow of valve engineers.
Autonomous Valve CFD overcomes these challenges by providing a cloud-based, autonomous simulation environment that delivers fast, reliable insights without the complexity of conventional CFD workflows.
